The Persepolis rug

The Persepolis rug

This Shiraz rug tells the story of a heroic Soltan battling a lion at Persepolis. The Soltan and the lion are surrounded by horses in the four corners and Faravahar above and below the Soltan and the lion. The Faravahar is a symbol of Zoroastrianism, the oldest religion originated from ancient Persia, representing the concept of good thoughts, good words, and good deeds. It features a human figure with outstretched wings, symbolizing protection and guidance.
